Krier Center

Art Tent conducts studio workshops at Krier Juvenile Correction Center, a facility of Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department.

Enthusiastic young men and women, ages 13-17, explore art and design through collaborative hands-on projects, designed to challenge preconceived notions of their capabilities and interests.

Textile Self Portraits

A Collaboration
Spring 2023

Collaging with fabrics, students created self portraits. The images were combined to make a record of a moment at Krier. They cut their sketched ideas out of fabric and added stitching. The images were combined to make 2 large banner pieces.

Print & Stitch

Summer Program 2016

Twelve teenage girls, ages 14-17, participated in an 8-week summer art program with instructor Deborah Mersky. After initially designing and printing on fabric, the girls spent the remainder of the classes embellishing their images with embroidery.

The workshop culminated with an art show attended by the staff, artists, and Bexar County Juvenile Probation administrators. Yahoo! The show was a big success!
