About Deborah

Art Tent provides on-site art, design, and cooking workshops for young men and women in Austin and San Antonio, Texas.

Deborah Mersky started Art Tent in 2013 to bring creative programs for incarcerated youth in Texas, who would otherwise not have these opportunities. She believes that all young people deserve access to self expression through the arts, and exposure to a world of art forms, current and historic. Through active participation in experimental and sensory rich experiences, Art Tent expands the lives of incarcerated youth. Benefits of this creative programming include enhanced problem solving and general curiosity, bolstered self esteem and self worth, and the experience of seeing oneself as part of a world of unlimited potential.

Public Art

In addition to teaching, Deborah has been involved in the field of public art. Her work can be found in hospitals, schools, light rail, and laboratories in Austin, San Antonio, Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland, and San Jose.
